Let me start by saying I absolutely loved this book! I literally didn't put it down even after I was finished with it. It was so riveting that I finished it in a few days.
Dark and Shallow Lies tells the story of Grey, a teenage girl who has come back to the psychic capitol of the world, La Cachette, Louisiana for the summer and to find out what happened to her missing best friend, Elora. The story telling is so incredibly atmospheric that you can practically feel the humidity of Louisiana all around you. I enjoyed how much time the author took to set the scene and give each character (of which there are many) enough depth to bring them to life. Grey's voice felt like that of a teenager and her choices followed the same vein.
There are multiple twists in this book and I thought Ginny Myers Sain handled each of them with skill. None of the twists felt clunky or non sensical and the final whodunnit had me shocked.
I highly suggest giving this first time author a chance, you will definitely not be disappointed!
