I really loved Dark and Shallow Lies! I loved the character's unique abilities and the magic that surrounds the book. I also really enjoyed the setting, because it's not one that is often written about and I appreciated the culture of the community in the book. It was suspenseful and intriguing and I am really happy that Bookish First highlighted this book (because it's how I first learned of it). I look forward to reading other books by this author, because I thoroughly enjoyed the unique story. It was also a quick read that I got through in a couple of days, because I was enjoying it that much and wanted to know what the community's secrets were. There was some predictability to a small part of its overall ending, but I was mostly surprised by the ending and satisfied with how it concluded. It was really well-written and I am very glad I read it!
