What a great beginning of what clearly will be a fantastic book. At first somber and atmospheric -- moccassin snakes in the swampy grass of Louisiana, hellishly high spring temperatures. And a town of psychics! Visitors come by boat to the Psychic Capital of the World to seek answers to the mysteries in their lives. But one mystery at the heart of the novel is what happened to Grey's best friend Elora, who disappeared in a freak storm three months ago. Grey's friends in the town all have different psychic abilities; they're not frauds. This adds to the intrigue of the story for me.
Grey's grandmother is a medium, her friend Evie is a clairaudient (she hears secret messages, whispers), her friend Hart is a psychic empath and his mother can take an object belonging to a loved one and accurately say whether the love is true. I have a feeling that all these talents might be needed to find Elora or find what happened to her. Whether or not that's the case, I can't wait to read the rest of the story.
