Dark and Shallow Lies
Ginny Myers Sain

Grey spends her summers in La Cachette, Louisiana--the Psychic Capital of the World--playing and growing up with the other nine Summer Children, especially her best friend Elora, who happens to share a birthday with Grey. This year things are different, however, because Elora is missing and the Summer Children seem to be growing apart. Grey, determined to discover what happened to her friend, begins to discover herself as well, figuring out what her psychic and supernatural gift is, as every one of the Summer Children seems to have a different one. Can Grey uncover the truth, or will it be forever buried?

Dark and Shallow Lies is a page-turner of a novel that is sure to entertain. Grey is a wonderful character; I could really root for her as she worked to uncover the truth about what may have happened to her friend, as well as the truth about herself. I enjoyed the mixture of mystery and the supernatural that comprises this novel, and once things really got going it kept me on the edge of my seat. The similarities and differences between the characters made them very interesting and intriguing. While not wanting to spoil anything found between the pages of Dark and Shallow Lies, there are some powerful themes and messages, and while it is a supernatural novel, there is a real honesty to this book and I greatly enjoyed it.
