Dark and shallow is a book following the main character, Grey, and this whole mystery in this town 'La Cachette' that she's only really spent the summers in since her mother died there. Her best friend, Elora, has just gone missing in this town. This summer when she comes to town, Grey attempts to find out what happened to her, revealing a bunch of other murders and secrets along the way.

"Hide and run.
I'll count from ten, then join the fun.
Say a prayer and how your head.
If my light finds you, you'll be dead.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one.
Ready or not, here I come.
I'm Dempsey Fontenot.
You better run."

This is the 3rd mystery book I've read this year.
I thought I might enjoy it as I did the other two but I didn't really enjoy it all that much.
Some of the things I hated was that the the pace of the book was kinda slow to me.The writing wasn't horrible but I don't know if I liked it that much. I also felt like Elora and Grey weren't that close but it was mentioned a lot that they were in the book. Another thing that just bothered me was that ELORA AND HART WERE STEP-SIBLINGS and they were involved with eachother. Although they weren't blood related, they grew up together from a young age as SIBLINGS, I'm still counting this as incest.
Some of the things I liked were Zale (why doesnt he have shirts?), Grey's visions, and the ending. The ending was the best part of the book for me.

All in all the book is a 3 star read for me.

Thank you Simon teen and Bookish First for sending me a advanced copy of this book.
