Dark and Shallow Lies is a young adult thriller, with a paranormal twist. Ginny Myers Sain writes about children living in Louisiana, (most) of whom have psychic powers of some sort. I thought that the setting here was distinct and that the large cast of characters was a pro. The story follows Grey, investigating the disappearance of Elora. Their small town has many secrets. That being said, this is generally a typical mystery, which a lot of twists. At times it felt a bit hard to follow (like you the reader couldn't figure out what was going to happen before the characters, but I do know that different readers have different preferences for how mysteries unfold, and how much information you should generally see coming.) The cover for this book is lovely and really fits the mood and vibes. Overall, an interesting book that I enjoyed reading!
