The setting and atmosphere was built very well. I do like our main character and her voice is very distinct. I enjoyed how the character relationships are written and how the teenagers in this novel appear to follow a found family trope. I don't usually read the mystery genre (although I wonder if I should start after reading this excerpt and because I usually watch mystery and drama films). This story gripped me from the start and I will most likely pick it up from the library or my library apps when it releases so I know how it ends!
