Wonderful Persian Representation
First, it was so wonderful to open this book knowing that I was going to dive into a world I am not familiar with. The main character, Darius, was a joy to read. I mean, who doesn't love a nerd? He loves pop culture and finds comfort and familiarity in what America offers. That will soon change.
His first trip ever to Iran is an awakening for him. He meets a neighbor boy who he becomes friends with and learns new things. Darius soon finds comfort in Iran and feeling more Persian than he ever has before.
We are experiencing family life and love in a cultural setting that isn't often seen in Young Adult. It is a heartfelt story that can be understood and enjoyed by anyone. It is definitely worth picking up.
