I. Loved. This. Book.

I want to go out and buy a dozen copies of this book to give to people I know. It was that good. This book delivered a nuanced portrayal of a teenage boy navigating his identity as a Persian American, a son, a big brother, and a person with depression. I respect that Darius was a regular kid working through who he was and who others wanted him to be, not some sort of stereotype or poster child for any one of those identity groups.

Suitable for the YA crowd but by no means just for teens, this story will make you chuckle at times and cry at other times. It's subtle in a way that some YA books are not, and I appreciated that. I look forward to reading whatever this author writes next!
