This book is truly incredible. The story follows Darius, a fractional Persian teen, who is making his first trip to Iran. Darius The Great Is Not Okay is such a great look into family relationships, mental health, friendships, and finding yourself. It is a love letter to the person inside of each of us who just wants to be wanted and appreciated.

I also loved how Persian culture was integrated into this novel. I was able to connect with the book because the imagery evoked was helpful to taking the story too a deeper level. Darius was also such a likable character who faced real struggles that can be relatable today. He learns so much over the course of his trip, but most importantly he learns how to be himself and how that is really truly enough. I loved seeing how Darius’s relationship with his family grew over the course of this book, and I cannot wait to pick up the sequel!
