I had trouble keeping my interest

I wanted so badly to like this book. It was at the top of my list of upcoming reads, but I could not get over my dislike of the author’s writing style. Maybe Darius just hit too close to home for me. When I read, I want to escape and the fact that Darius was clearly depressed and so am I, I just didn’t want to read that. Maybe I just don’t want to face my own internal issues and that’s on me, but I struggled to read this book. It’s still on my list and I hope I’ll be able to come back to this book in a few years and be able to understand Darius’s struggles, but until I am in a better place emotionally, this read is not something I can finish. Please do read this book, I checked out other reviews and they were inherently more positive so you all know it might be an amazing read but it’s not for me at this point in my life. One day, I hope to be able to change my review. Keep on writing.
