Darius the Great is Not Okay is a book that hadn't really been in my radar, because I'm not a contemporary fan, but still somehow got the chance to read it and it was way better than I expected.

This books tells us the story of Darius, a biracial boy (Iranian/American) with depression who travels for the very first time to Iran, a country he doesn't know much about and he doesn't speak the language either.

I'm not biracial, but I think it's a very interesting perspective I had never read about.

I thought it was going to be a romance queer book, but it wasn't, it's mostly about friendship, family and finding how you fit in the world.

Also, I really liked the depression representation in the book, I have depression and it's nice to see it represented in a way that's not some kind of catalyst to the story, Darius is depressed, he's depression is there and he just lives with it.

Overall, this was a book that really surprised me, I think I'll read the next one :)
