All I really have to say is how much I love this book, definitely five out of five stars. One of my favorite books of 2018 and it is very well written. I love Darius and the fact that he is relatable. He's bullied because he's half Persian, more specifically his name and where his family comes from. He deals with everyday teenage issues such as waking up with a huge pimple and just trying to fit in. Not only does he try to fit in at school, but at home too. He looks more like his Persian mom but can't speak any Farsi and the only time he spends happily with his dad is watching an episode of Star Trek every night. Both Darius and his dad also suffer from depression, but it's not really something to be proud of to share. His sister fits in more than him because she has blonde hair and blue eyes like her dad, but is able to communicate with her mom's family because she speaks Farsi. When they go to Iran, he meets Sohrab an Iranian boy that is close with Darius' family in Iran. Sohrab helps Darius to accept himself and Darius kinda catches some feels, and isn't sure how to address it. Darius visits monuments in Iran and learns the importance of his name and overall Iran was an amazing, uplifting experience for him. Absolutely adore this book!
