In reading this book, I discovered so much about Persian and Iranian culture. The perspective of Darius helped to bring the audience into the world that he was experiencing for the first time. He had a clear voice, and the things he was experiencing felt visceral and universal. I loved getting to know his family and the world they occupy in Iran, there were so many great descriptions of food and surroundings it felt as if I was there. There is a lot of discussion and normalization of treatment and medication that is so important in this book, I appreciated that it doesn't shy away from those topics and it deals with them in a way that feels realistic. Darius was a fascinating character to read from, and I greatly enjoyed this book.
