It's not what I expected

I was super excited for this book, especially since the first few chapters were amazing! But it really didn't live up to those expectations. The first thing you should know is that this takes place in a high school, with high school aged characters. And while I love most YA books, this book did not benefit from it. I mean, it's CUPID, god of love (and SEX). And he's courting a high school girl as a high school student and ugh. I feel like it could have had so many more opportunities had the main character been in college.
Aside from that, it was okay. Lots of slow burn romance. The ending was a bit strange, so somewhat spoiler warning. The whole book is centered on Venus, ancient Roman goddess of love, not returning and causing the end of the world (essentially), which is a strange view of Roman mythology. I mean, why is Venus so terrible but the cupids are okay? And then they run into other characters from mythology and they call them Myths, that's right, capital "M" myths. It was strange. Also, arrows were...stranger.
