To start off, I don't think this book was bad. Especially for a debut novel!! I just think it could have been pulled off a little cleaner, and think it should have been polished more before publication.

Let's start with the positives: I love the pirate focus, and I really enjoyed some of their characters. I found their backgrounds to be interesting. I also loved the "trials" portion of the book. One of my favorite parts of the book was the beginning!

I found Kane to be quite boring, but I did really enjoy the relationship between the two sisters (Csilla and Rhonda). I also liked the heist portion of the book. To be honest, that's one of the things that most intrigued me about this book when I read the description and first part of the book.

After the beginning, I found myself to be bored at some points. The pacing wasn't awful, but I didn't find the plot to be intriguing. I felt as if the plot could have been more complicated, as I found it to be pretty simple in terms of published books.

Overall, decent start for this author, just could have been pulled off a little bit better in my opinion. If this author ever publishes anything else I will probably check it out, and I think that they have lots and lots of potential!

Thanks to bookish first for providing me with a free arc in exchange for an honest review! This did not affect my review in any way.
