I don't know that I've read a pirate story in my adult life, and I am so glad this is the one that I started with! Now I want more, both of this story, and of pirate stories in general!
The story is fun and fast-moving, following Csilla, Kane, and Lorelai as they learn that the pirate king has died and that the trials for a new king are set to happen. We meet several other interesting characters, but my favorites were Csilla and Kane. There is so much character development, that they are hard to not root for. The ending was wrapped up well while still leaving so much more to be explored in future stories (hopefully). It's not all happy and easy-ending either, which I love.
Recommended for you if you: loved the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, want to read a book that you can play in your head like a movie, need a spooky season book without it being scary, and if you enjoyed fairytales growing up.
