With the ringing of the Blood Bell the trials for a new pirate "king" are promised, and I am personally already invested in the successor being the brazen female pirate captain who narrowly avoided death at the gallows with the help of her all female crew. The opening of this story is definitely a nail bitter and reminiscent of a certain Disney pirate sequel, but that does not take away from the anticipation felt while reading. Csilla, pirate king contender number one, has already promised to deliver a world of revenge to pirate king contender two, Flynn Gunnison, for his betrayal. We are also introduced to Kane Blackwater, a possible third contender to the trial, despite what seems to be initial trepidation for what the Bells and Trials bring, he has a debt to payoff and has already proven himself to be a skilled and brutal fighter. This is shaping up to be an interesting game set at sea and I am eager to see the rest of the board!
