Coven is a new young adult graphic novel from author of Some Girls Do, Jennifer Dugan, and Kit season, the illustrated of Wonder Women Warbringer. I’d read both, so I was really excited for this one and it did not disappoint me! Besides for being fantasy, this also had bits of queer romance and mysteries! It starts off with a bang and our main character Emsy and her family moves back home to help their coven when they are in danger. Emsy has to leave her girlfriend and friends behind, but she finds her family and new pieces of herself she didn’t know were missing. She finally learns how to master her own ability. This story works really well as a graphic novel and it’s beautifully drawn. I think I was hoping for a bit more sapphic rep as for most of the book Emsy and her girlfriend was apart, but I still appreciated it. Katia was the most intriguing character but felt like there were some stereotypes there.
