Thank you so much to Putnam Books and Bookish First or the advanced copy!

This was such a fun graphic novel to get me in the mood for spooky season! While the story was fairly predictable, I still had a good time and enjoyed the familiarity it provided - that allowed me to truly enjoy the jaw-droopingly beautiful illustrations. Kit Seaton’s work is the star of the show and would recommend everyone read it for those alone! The attention to detail in the horror sequences and the emotions portrayed through the use of color and line work is just exquisite.

For such a short graphic novel, there is an incredible amount of character development. The characters are 16 year-olds and they feel true to reality - especially given the circumstances. There were moments where you are cheering along with them and then others where you want to shake some sense into them. Watching Emsy's journey, specifically, as they leaves her home in California and discovers who she truly is was really well done and I loved how she connected with her new family members.
