When I received this book in the mail I was excited but also a bit nervous because I am not the biggest nonfiction reader in the world, and I knew nothing about the author.
After reading the book, I am super glad that I took a chance on it. The author was a pageant contestant in the eighties, and the winner of the 1990 Miss America pageant competition. It was super interesting to hear about the trials that this woman went through with both her faith and her determination to continue to get a career and also win Miss America.
One quote that really stood out to me was “How often do we choose to do something with our own agenda and then get disappointed when God doesn’t fulfill our expectations? Too often to count based on my personal experience. Thankfully, God doesn’t let us off so easily. He doesn’t let go of the dream He had for you and me.”
I’m just super inspired by this woman, and glad she put her story and her faith into words.
