The book opens with a routine surgery gone wrong and right away the reader is enthralled. A man literally explodes on the operating table. Why? How? From there the narrative shifts to our main character, Owen Berk, who is a New York city writer. The connection is made when Owen's editor introduces him to the deceased's sister. She is wary of the explanation of her brother's death and wants Owen to investigate.
The start of this novel is nothing less than intriguing. The prose is beautifully cinematic and I definitely need to find out what happens next.
