Don't compare it to her BDB series!

I am a huge JR Ward fan and was super excited to get something new from her outside of her Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I mean what's not to love when it comes to hot firemen?! I was not as excited when I finished it though...
I just could not connect with Ann a whole lot, or Danny for that matter. They seemed a bit wooden and robotic, just not a whole lot of feeling there. The first half of the book flew by and was full of excitement and twists, then the last half was kind of just meh. The action slowed and even the twist turned out to be like oh, ok. And it ended abruptly too, just a few weeks after the events and drama with no real conclusion as to why. I know it leaves it open for more to happen in the future books with the crew of the 499 but I was left hanging and it wasn't even a cliffhanger.
I am not comparing Consumed to her BDB series, but it just feels like its a mix of that atmosphere and her other contemporary books, and it lacked that type of alpha and action. Still a great book though!
