I enjoyed this book a lot more than I expected to. For such a dire topic, the book is quite funny and I rather enjoyed the author's writing style.

I found the main character extremely unlikable but in a fun way that added to the experience of reading the book. I liked the introduction to the Inuit culture given in the first half of the book. The ending was perfectly fitted to the story, especially the epilogue.

The author's knowledge of Inuit culture and the Arctic Circe really enhanced the story and came across even though the character did not know what he was doing.

If you're not a fan of writers that are heavy-handed with similes, this is not the book for you. I quite enjoyed the way it was written, but I know that style is not for everyone.

My only real complaint is I read the back of the book summary before reading (as one does) and it spoiled the entire book all the way to the end.
