So, I won this book through BookishFirst a couple months ago, and initially I was, if not excited, then at least somewhat interested in it. There had been a couple of light and funny moments in the excerpt, and I was mildly intrigued to see how this book would pan out. Unfortunately, what I found was the writing grew to be just as aimless as the protagonist as the story continued. It seems to take a long time just to get to the actual expedition part of things, and by that time, I was so tired by the way it had been dragging, that I just had to let it go. The funny moments, so wry and oddly charming in the beginning, began to be more tired as it was the same "fish out of water" sequences.

I understand that the author has a lot of experience with the Arctic Circle, and that research and understanding does shine through. It's just that the story itself can get tiring and a bit boring.
