As a lover of adventureres of old, I was so happy to have a chance to read this novel. And I was NOT dissapointed. Infact, I was pleasantly surprised by the authors amazing imagery, flowery writing style, that really has the power to drive home that you are seeing things from the point of view of a adventurer (as unreliable and dishonest as he might be). I wont share any spoiler's in this review.

I was very excited to see that the author knew of my other obscure fascination, the doomed Franklin Expedition! And other discoveries that have gone awry. However, from the moment I started this novel I felt a lot of kinship between my sympathetic hobbies and the narrator. I will say, however, that at times the author can get in the way of their own story by using large, obscure vocabulary that makes you feel lost or at worst bored. There were times I loved his flowery language, and decorum - and othertimes I found it tedious to read and pointless. I believe once the author learns to balance these out it'll be smooth sailing. I would definitely recommend this read, and pick up any future work this author decides to put out.
