This book was devastating and had strong themes of sexism, revenge, and violence against women. Fans of "The Song of Achilles" should definitely check out this retelling. I loved the character Clytemnestra, you see her become consumed with hate and grief. This constantly makes her search for revenge and drive others away. She is stuck in this cycle, but you question whether her other choices would have been any less violent or sad.

I especially loved the parallels between characters, as Clytemnestra has a daughter named Iphigenia, who is beautiful and kind, just like her sister Helen. Clytemnestra's other daughter, Electra is jealous of the love and attention Iphigenia receives, just as Clytemnestra was sometimes jealous of Helen.

I loved the depth of the story. Despite Clytemnestra being violent and vengeful, we got to see her strength and her drive. Throughout the book we see Clytemnestra try to slowly make the world a better place, like how she wanted it to be when she was younger. She protects younger girls that she sees herself in.

There is so much more I would love to discuss here, but all I can say is please read this! It was such a great story.
