This is a story about the Spartan princess Clytemnestra and her family tragedy. Her sister is the beautiful Helen and they have such a special bond together, Clytemnestra protects her at every cost. She also has other brothers and sisters and its about all of those relationships, including her parents. The book spans stages of her entire grown up life so its a long book but it was such a fast pace read that I read it very quickly.

It reminded me so much of the book “Medusa” by Rosie Hewlett. I absolutely loved the main character’s drive and confidence when it came to her strong feminine role. She wasn’t going to let anything get in her way especially not in the world of men. It very much reminded me of the “Game of Thrones” dark themes of violence, sex, and revenge, and the book got darker as it progressed. I very much appreciated the family tree in the beginning, along with the glossary to help dissect the reading.

Overall, i thought this was a brilliant first novel, and her pace of story was quick and interesting. I loved the character development of Clytemnestra, and her downward spiral of revenge, but I did think the ending was unsatisfying and abrupt, but a very quick and entertaining read.
