The book does a good job of taking the Greek legends and turning them into flesh and blood people to whom one can relate and care about. Clytemnestra's fiery spirit are obvious from the beginning, told in her actions and words. She is clearly someone who is not going to fit the traditional roles laid out for her. The family dynamic of these characters, Helen, Leda, Castor, etc. also become more real, when these individuals are often only seen in the major stories of them. The dynastic charts at the beginning of the book are a great help in keeping up with relationships. This selection provides enough action and indications of future conflicts and relationships to make the reader want to read further. I think this will be a most engaging book, though perhaps one that is not the happiest of tales. I would definitely like to read the entire book.
