The first chapters of this book do well at establishing the complex character of Clytemnestra before we've even gotten to the meat of her story. The prose was well written. In my opinion, it had a vaguely poetic feel to it without going so far that it became irritating. I also appreciated that it didn't sanitize the unsavory aspects of Spartan society, e.g., slavery, violence, abuse, although those elements might be upsetting to some readers.

The cover is just ok in my opinion. I like the idea of it, but the execution isn't giving me much.
