This book did not disappoint!! I discovered Heather Morris when I read her book The Tattooist of Auschwitz and could not wait to get my hands on this one. It was a heart wrenching read that kept you wanting to read more despite the fact it made you want to cry at the same time. There were so many moments that I had to put down the book because of the emotions it made me feel. It is a beautiful recount of surviving disgusting and hard times. It is a quick read, I finished it in a day. If you are looking for a stand alone book this is a great option. Despite the fact that she is mentioned in Morris’ other book, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, you do not need to read that one first or at all to understand what is going on in this book. I recommend this book to everyone I know, along with her other one. Be warned that the book does touch on sensitive topics that may make some people uncomfortable.
