When I read enjoyed the Tattooist of Auschwitz the story was very sad and powerful testament to the human spirit and love. I picked up Cilka's Journey because I enjoyed Cilka in the first book and decided to read the second book. Cilka endures so much as a woman and is a remarkable young woman who has seen the cruelest sides of men and war. Still this book shows how remarkable humans are to endure through difficult situations and the human need to help one another. In this book, I felt that Cilka's story was incredibly sad and just difficult to read at times. There were some parts that were so disturbing and upsetting that I skipped over them. Good story and amazing resilient woman. What a good book.
