There are people who can differentiate books from their authors and then there are people who can't. I'm part of the latter group.
The entire controversy definitely muddled my mind but even without that, I wouldn't have liked it.
Apparently, Cilka is an angel, one who can do no wrong. I feel almost bad for spitting on a holocaust novel but this one deserves it.
There is extreme use of dialogue, mostly when it's unnecessary.
Parts of the novel I did like - the camaraderie between the women was truly uplifting. And my heart reached out to Josie, poor innocent Josie. I really liked the kid.
There was a lack of emotion in the book. For a novel about the terrible sentence the prisoners received for no fault of their own, i barely felt anything.

Not on my reread list.
