This book was a very powerful story that explored what happened to some women after the concentration camps. I definitely think that there is an assumption that people were saved from the camps and life was okay for them moving forward which was not the case for Cilka in this story. This is a powerful story that follows this woman’s fight to survive outside of the concentration camps after being judged and tried for the “crimes” she committed while being held captive. From one prison to another, Cilka has to fight to survive and struggle through the opinions and harsh judgment of even the women she shares her time with. This book truly is about a journey in which Heather Morris mixes the last and the present. I felt like it was a bit longer than it needed to be and could have benefited from a few more edits as some of the book became repetitive. Overall, this was very well written, heartbreaking and eye opening much like her first book.
