So I have not read the Tattooist of Auschwitz; but there is lovely information at the back of this book in form of an epilogue and additional research information on Cilka Klein which really enhanced the story for me further after reading - look out for the back bits!
Also wanna point out this is a NZ author!

Based on the true story of Cilka Klein, a survivor of Auschwitz where she was condemned at the age of 16 in 1942.
Freed from hell three years later, Cilkas is charged with assisting the enemy for obeying they Nazis which led to her survival, and sent to a Siberian Camp for fifteen years.
There she lucks out and finds a role within the camp, but still has to navigate the new camp rules, heirarchy and intense elements that could kill them all any day.
Despite everything Cilka still finds room in her heart for love and hope.

I was in a bit of a slump and then finished this in record time. This story is amazing and really highlights a different POV of the suffering- and walks through how Cilka was victimized and then victimized again just for surviving.
Her strength is undeniable, as well as her beauty- though I was mostly drawn to her inner beauty, her love for others and the suffering she voluntarily went through is close to unbelievable. I am eternally grateful for the fictional recount of her life because when I read the research facts and think about it I tear up. This is worth the read and is nice chance for self reflection on what we have, value and love.
