I loved the Tattooist of Auschwitz, so I definitely thought this would be subpar next to it. BOY WAS I WRONG. I fell in love with Cilka and her story and her friends, even thought I barely remembered her from Tattooist. I really enjoyed how they included the subtle allusions to Tattooist, but that this was still Cilka's story and Cilka's journey. Her character development was absolutely beautiful, and I loved that she did not have a set in stone love interest the entire time. It allowed us to see how independent she is, and how she worked for what she got. I literally read this entire book in one sitting because I could not put it down, I had to know what happened next. One of the best sequels I've read!
