Cilka's Journey was everything I hoped for and more. It kept me intrigued and made my heart hurt over and over. I never learned about the Siberian prison camps in school only about the Nazi concentration camps, so it was very interesting to learn about this part of history. I’m not much of a historical fiction person but this book kept my attention the entire time. It made me feel for the characters and taught me new things. My heart was broken over and over again as I listened to all that Cilka survived. She was a strong girl/young woman. I can’t believe that this happened in the past and I pray that nothing like this ever happens again. No one deserves this.

I appreciate the Heather Morris included more history of Cilka and how she implemented her research into the story and how there was an afterword with more historical information on the Siberian prison camps at the end of the book.
