I loved this story. I finished this one immediately after I read The Tattooist of Auschwitz. I was so engrossed in Cilka's story that I could not put it down. It's one that will stay with me. I'm not sure which parts were factual or fictitious but none the less it was still gripping and so emotionally raw. There were moments I questioned humanity when learning what happened to Cilka along her journey. She is a true heroine and I strongly admire her courage and strength to keep going and keep fighting and never give up. I'm so glad I read this book and it's a story I find myself recommending to anyone who enjoys reading historical fiction or reading about world war II. I hope to see more works by the author like this one. Thank you for the copy!
