If you've read The Tattooist of Auschwitz (and you probably have since it was so popular- even as I was reading this on a plane last week I could see someone two rows up reading it), then Cilka's name, or at least author Heather Morris's name, will sound familiar. This story focused on what happened to Cilka Klein after Auschwitz, and the years she spent after the war in a Siberian prison camp. As you might imagine, it's heartbreaking, and Cilka fights to believe that there might be life for her after her sentence. It's a tough story that shines light on the facts that the end of World War II wasn't the end of the story. It can be easy to forget what was happening in other parts of the world at the time, but Cilka's story serves as a sobering reminder.
