You’ll find yourself captivated and empathetic to Chilka’s situation immediately. I want to know more about the place she came from and her former life. She has been brought to a camp where she was raped, and then viewed accusingly by other prisoners. And now she has been moved to another camp and it appears it may happen again.
I have read quite a bit about the Nazi camps. Mixed in with the horrors are stories of survival and incredibly strong human spirit.
I like the way this is written. It’s a smooth and easy read, mostly her thoughts and and feelings. Not really much dialog, which is the reason I prefer books over film.
I just read a sample snippet and it left me wanting to know more.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who like this genre but also those who don’t normally read history.
