Cilka's Journey was a beautiful story told about a girl who is taken to Auschwitz Concentration Camp in 1942, where she is noticed for her beauty. She is separated from the other prisoners and she then has to fight for her life.
What I loved most about this book was seeing Cilka's will to survive. She's forced to find a strength that she never even knew she had. I think so many of us have so much strength in us, but aren't forced to tap into it and seeing this come out in her was so beautiful. I can't imagine facing terror every single day and I was glued to this book. I was engaged and moved.
The only part I struggled with was that it felt a bit slow in the middle, but I was so invested in the story that I kept going.
All in all I think this is a wonderful historical fiction book and I would recommend for sure.
