I loved the Tattooist of Auschwitz and this book did not disappoint me. I was glad to get more of Cilka’s story as she was an intriguing character. This book is hard to read but it reflects the truth and our history and that is important. I will say trigger warnings for rape, death, violence, and human suffering. That being said this was also a story of hope, kindness, and survival. Cilka is truly a special character, not only full of strength to survive but a loving and caring person even if the depths of human suffering. With all of the horrors that Cilka endured I was glad to see her find purpose and joy in learning the skills to be a nurse and help others. The author has a style of writing that is gripping and really seems to envelope the reader into what is happening. This book flowed by for me until I couldn’t believe I was reading the final pages. I look forward to what Heather Morris tackles next.
