Cilka's Journey is a harrowing tale of a girl, who at the age of 16, is taken from everything she knows. Separated along side her sister from her family and is taken from one concentration camp to another. Always hoping and wishing to either go back home, or for death to take her. She witnesses and lives through horrific events and she watches those around her die of sickness, starvation, or being killed, and she is forced to do hard labor. And yet she has the willpower and drive to keep pushing forward.

She has been used, abused, and forced into some very terrible and unforgiving situations. This work of historical fiction follows this young woman as she grows through these events, going from a person of hard labor, to a healer and guiding light to those around her.

Heather Morris tells us Cecilia (Cilka) Klein's story by putting facts and statements together from the people who knew Cecilia, and those who had been close to her, in order to bring Cilka's world to light. Yes, it may be lacking in detail of the locations around Cecilia, and the descriptions may not make the events as horrifying as they truly were. However, some of the situations that are described paint a rather gruesome pictures and it really makes one wish that something could have been done sooner, or perhaps that the event of Auschwitz had never happened, and that the pain could be taken away.
