I feel so bad for Cilka and the difficult life she has led; being punished for being Jewish, being raped in a concentration camp, and then being punished for that, seems unreal to me, and Cilka as well. I loved that, on the train, the women all jumped to help the girl who got her period; even in their suffering they care. I like the style; the language is rather simple but there are a lot of extremely powerful sentences. The flashback to Auschwitz was powerful as well. I’d love to know what Cilka’s future holds.
