After reading a popular book I expected to be great but fell flat for me, I was so grateful and pleasantly surprised by Chronicles of a Radical Hag. First, the writing is excellent. It remains interesting throughout the book without be overly wordy or descriptive, yet it sets the scenes perfectly. The dialog is witty, quick and thoughtful. This story is one of those that sticks with you. It basically tells the story of a woman's life, Hazel, by focusing on the columns she has written for the newspaper. She is had a stroke and the newspaper begins publishing her past writings over again. It pulls in the people that surround her life beautifully, working toward an ending I'll not soon forget. This book was a joy to read from the beginning to end. I'll be purchasing more books by this author, Lorna Landvik, and moving them to the top of my tbr pile.
