This book is a little of everything. A little sweet, and a little salty. It's a little funny, and a little political too. The character of Haze Evans was a force to be reckoned with. In fact I got a Dorothy from Golden Girls vibe!

We get to know Haze through her newspaper columns, that are being reprinted. I really enjoyed reading her columns and the flashback they provide to real life historical events. There are even some current events mixed in too. An added bonus: the recipes. They all sounded wonderful!

I did find that I wanted a little bit more about some of the supporting characters (they were all so likeable!) In fact I would love to know what happens to all of them in the future. Sequel? Overall this was a pleasant read!
