I grew up in a small town and this is totally true to life. The outrageous elderly lady newspaper columnist (we had one), the publisher trying to keep a small town newspaper afloat (had one of those, too) , the women saying "I like it but don't tell my husband" ( ditto, although I really hope that's changing now). This barely seems like fiction to me. However, for people who didn't grow up in a small rural town, this is an engaging book that will be very far from their own personal experience. If you like well written books set in small towns with an elderly lady as a main character, I think you'll probably enjoy this book. I like the title and the cover very much, and that's tremendously important.
