When beloved local newspaper columnist, Hazel Evans, is hospitalized after a massive stroke leaves her in a coma, her old columns are reprinted for younger readers to experience and older subscribers to reread and reminisce.

Haze’s voice is heard vividly in the words she leaves behind as well as in her friends’, coworkers’ and community members’ recollections of time spent with her.

You know when you read a book and do not wnat it to end? That is how I felt about Chronicles of a Radical Hag. Lorna Landvik does a wonderful job of creating real characters that jump of the page and into your living room (or where ever you chose to read).

The story elicits a range of emotions and I often found myself laughing and, at times, crying while reading. This to me is a true sign of a great book!
