My initial impression when I read the synopsis of Children of Blood and Bone was that it was another YA fantasy which is not my favorite genre. However, I really enjoyed the First Look. Zelie's story is very believable in the real world and her fellow characters are well developed. I would be anxious to know if Zelie is successful in her mission to earn coin and how the story of her family turns out. I give this book four stars based on the excerpt I read.
