Chaos & Flame is a dual POV fantasy story that follows two members of warring Houses in a feud that spans several hundred years. Darling and Talon are brought together by war, Talon's brother (the High Prince Regent Caspian), and ultimately fate. At Caspian's urging, they all embark on a journey that will change all of their lives forever.
The world building and magic system are rich and engaging. The enemies to lovers romance is compelling, and the court politics play a convincing and center role in the story. I really am excited to have the conclusion to this duology in my hands. It was a really quick and brief read (325 pages), but I was definitely invested in all of the characters, and even more invested in the politics, magic, and world building. The universe really is interesting, and I can't wait to see where this story heads in book 2. It ends on a massive cliffhanger that makes me super eager to pick up the concluding novel.
I would absolutely recommend this one to fans of YA fantasy (adult and otherwise), and to people who love a beautiful book (the cover and end pages are just stunning).
